You know I’ve got this theory, there are two kinds of people in the world. There are lyric people & music people. You know the lyrics people tend to be analytical. You know, all about the meaning of the song. They’re the ones you see with the CD insert out like 5 minutes after buying it, pouring over the lyrics, interpreting the hell out of everything. Um, then there’s the music people who could care less about the lyrics as long as its just got a good beat & you could dance to it. I don’t know, sometimes it might be easier to be a music girl & not a lyric girl. But since I’m not, let me just say this. Sometimes things find you when you need them to find you, I believe that. & for me it’s usually song lyrics.
If you’re young and you’re reading this, you guys know what you’re up against. Especially if you’re a girl. It’s sex, right? & even fifty years from now, I’m guessing it’s still a really big deal. It’s awkward & threatening. & thrilling. But, in a way, it’s like sex is the easy part. Giving your heart to somebody. that’s the scary part.
So today I’ve been thinking…
Well, I think we as people take a lot of things for granted, sometimes without even realizing it. I’ve realized that we should never be afraid to tell someone how we feel about them. How much we appreciate them, or how much we just simply love them..take the time in your day to tell someone how much you care about them because you never know when they can be taken away from you. You NEVER ever know.
My pen is the barrel of a gun. Remind me which side you should be on.
-Never keep from saying something, simply because you’re scared of the answer. You may miss your only opportunity to say it. Once you get what you want, then you have something to lose.
It’s not about what you say.. it’s about what you do. If you don’t like who you’ve become change it, no one is gonna do it for you.
As we strain to grasp the things we desire, the things we think will make our life better, money, popularity, fame, we ignore the things that truly matter. The simple things like friendship, family, love, the things we probably already had.
Henry James once wrote: “Be not afraid of life. Believe that life is worth living, and your belief will help create the fact.”
Remember tonight, for it is the beginning of always.
A promise. Like a reward for persisting through life so long alone.
A belief in each other and the possibility of love.
A decision to ignore, simply rise above the pain of the past.
A covenant, which at once binds two souls and yet severs prior ties.
A celebration of the chance taken and the challenge that lies ahead.
For two will always be stronger than one, like a team braced against the tempest civil world.
And love will always be the guiding force in our lives. For tonight is mere formality.
Only an announcement to the world of feelings long held. Promises made long ago.
